To be eligible for our teacher training programme, you need to meet the following criteria.
You will need to demonstrate a standard equivalent to a GCSE grade C / grade 4 in Mathematics and English to teach at secondary level. Should you not hold a GCSE certificate, please click here to view our Equivalency Testing Policy.
You need to have an Honours Degree. If your degree is unrelated to the subject in which you wish to train in, we usually ask you to hold an A Level in the chosen subject; this may also have an effect your bursary eligibility depending on subject.
If you have overseas qualifications, you will need certification from NARIC that these are of an equivalent standards to the above requirements.
National Skills Test
As a trainee teacher, you must complete your Literacy and Numeracy National Skills Tests no matter what route to Qualified Teacher Status you pursue. However, we offer workshops to all those who have been offered a place with us, so that you can be well prepared for the tests.
All applicants must have the right to reside in the UK.
