Norfolk Teacher Training Centre welcomes record number of trainee teachers
9th September 2019
Norfolk Teacher Training Centre has started the 2019-20 school year with more trainees and schools than ever choosing NTTC as their teacher training provider. For the first time, this includes primary trainees and apprentices.
A total of 70 trainees and apprentices have begun their journey to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with Norfolk Teacher Training Centre.
In its first five years as a provider of school-based teacher training, NTTC has established an excellent reputation locally for the quality of the training and in-school mentoring and support for trainees at secondary level.
Introducing Primary Teacher Training and Teaching Apprenticeships
Building on this experience, and the highly effective collaboration with partner schools, this is the first year in which NTTC has offered primary teacher training.
In addition, NTTC is now facilitating and supporting the training of Teaching Apprenticeships on the new Teacher Apprenticeship Standard – giving a new pathway to QTS for appropriately experienced staff, such as Teaching Assistants.
All NTTC trainees and apprentices will benefit from the popular school-based approach to teacher training, which will see them spend 4 days a week in schools, supplemented by a day a week of professional development at City College Norwich.
Paul McCann, Director of NTTC, said:
It’s been brilliant to welcome all our new trainee teachers and apprentices to NTTC for the start of the new school year. We have yet again had an extremely high calibre of applicants to NTTC. With their hard work and enthusiasm, supported by our excellent partner schools, and NTTC’s proven professional development programme, they can all go on to become outstanding teachers.
“Teaching continues to be an incredibly rewarding career choice, in which every working day is stimulating and different, providing the privileged opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives. We are delighted that more trainees than ever before have chosen to make this journey with NTTC, including our first Teacher Apprentices and our first cohort of primary school trainees.
